CAMPAIGNS

We are very excited about making a difference in our local community through the work we can do as Caterham WI!

This page includes details of the current campaigns we are supporting. If you have an interest in nominating other causes for Caterham WI to consider, please let us know!

STRIPEY STORK

Stripey Stork are our nominated local charity for 2017. They collect donations of baby equipment, clothes, toys and other baby essentials and check that they meet current UK safety standards. They receive requests from local professionals (health visitors, social workers, children’s centres etc) on behalf of families in need. They then try and meet the request from the items in stock or by putting a call out to supporters via their Facebook and Twitter page.

We will be supporting them in two ways: 

DONATING ITEMS
VOLUNTEERING

Stripey Stork usually have a backlog of unsorted items, clothes, baby bottles, weaning items etc. They are always keen for volunteers to assist at their sorting office in Redhill. Let us know if you're interested. 

If you have baby equipment, clothes or toys that you no longer use, Stripey Stork can pass them on to a local family who really needs them. Check the list of items needed.

Please bring any donations to our monthly meetings. 

MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
The Official Bit!

There are a few rules about the causes we can support and as we are a registered charity we have to be careful to follow the rules set out by the National Federation. To give you a brief overview we can support causes that:

 

  • Improve and develop conditions of rural life

  • Advance our member’s education in citizenship, in public questions both national and international, in music, drama and other cultural subjects and in all branches of agriculture, handicrafts, home economics, health and social welfare

  • Gives women the opportunity to work together on causes that are in line with the WI’s charitable objectives

  • Supports a cause that benefits as large a selection of local people as possible and not just one individual
