We meet on the third Wednesday of every month at The URC Church, Harestone Hill, Caterham CR3 6SX in Caterham Valley, from 7pm for a 7.30pm start

GAMES & CRAFTS

Bring your puzzle books, jigsaws, knitting, stitching and colouring books for an informal evening and a bit of a natter. Vote for this years resolutions to go to the final vote in May.

GIN TASTING

Hosted by Kingston Distillers we'll hear a fascinating talk on the history of Gin, how they make it and the conservation work that they do. We'll sample some of their exclusive London Dry Gin & the Sloe Gin that the make with Juniper Berries from Boxhill. The evening will be rounded off with a quiz and a prize bottle of Beckett's Gin. 

CARSHALTON LAVENDER

Join us for a talk by Carshalton Lavender, a not-for-profit community project that manages 3 acres of lavender in Carshalton Beeches, Surrey. This area was once famous as “the lavender capital of the world”, and they work to keep the heritage of local lavender alive for current and future generations.

Back by popular demand! You'll have the chance to refine your drawing skills on a new subject with Mick McNicholas. You may want to bring an apron to protect your clothes and please bring a drawing board if you can!

Hear about the wonderful work of Stripey Stork including how your generous donations are being used to better the lives of local families! This will be followed by some charity fundraising games - having fun is not optional!

We will also have a short presentation on this year's resolutions followed by voting.

Peter Thompson was a practicing Barrister in Chambers for 27 years at Temple in London and was a practicing solicitor for 18 years.

 

Peter will be giving us a talk entitled "You - The Jury" and will be entertaining us with his experiences as a Barrister.

Tony’s the Butler, and in charge! Lizzie is the housekeeper. Both costumed we explain the complex social structure of domestic servants. We will transport our listeners back in time to a lifetime of dedicated servitude during the heydays of the 19th & early 20th centuries. This presentation is packed with historical facts delivered with humour and panache! 

Tim is an award winning chef and Caterham resident and studied under the tutelage of the legendary patissier Professor John Huber. Tim will share his pastry expertise and you'll have a go at truffle dipping! Read more about Tim & his classes at www.timspastryclub.com/
