COMMITTEE

OUR STORIES
Abi

I was absolutely delighted to be re-elected as your WI President and am greatly looking forward to putting into practise all of the lessons learnt from our first year, along with your trusty and extremely capable Committee. This year I will be sharing the President role jointly with Caroline!

As your President I will strive to ensure that we offer you exactly what you are looking for, and all in shipshape and Bristol fashion!

CAROLINE WALLIS

PRESIDENT

I joined the Caterham WI at the start of its second year and promptly volunteered to be on the committee!

I am a newbie to Caterham and so joined to meet people and get involved with the local community. So it is apt that I have taken on the role of President and Campaigns Officer. I look forward to meeting lots of people and if you would like to get involved with anything campaign related, local or national, please do get in touch.

JUDE KANE

TREASURER

I am originally from  Sunderland, but left when I was 18 as my husband joined the army.  We spent over 20 years moving around Europe, before settling in Coventry when my husband left the army.  We then relocated down south to Purley with my husband’s job where we have lived for the last 19 years.

I joined the WI last year to meet different people, try different things and I’ve enjoyed every minute so far!

I moved to Caterham three years ago and wanted to meet new people in the local area. Joining Caterham WI was a great way to get involved with the local community and make some great new friends! I've really enjoyed the range of different talks and activities we get to do each month so I volunteered to support the Committee to make sure our meetings continue to happen!

This year I'll be taking over as Secretary as well as to keep the website up to date with all you need to know about meetings, groups and news.

By joining Caterham WI, it is a great way to meet new people, of which I have met some great new ladies, and also to learn new ideas and skills. I can't wait for this years programme to start.

I have lived in Caterham all my life and would love to help the local community more. I am already involved in the community by helping with the 11th Caterham cub pack and I am also a trustee for CHECK, (Community Health and Education for the Children of Kimilili), a Caterham based charity.

I am delighted to be back on the committee! I am really looking forward to all the meetings we have organised for you.

I hope to be able to arrange some trips for you but I do need input from you lovely ladies. Please step up and let us know of anything you would like to do be it a theatre trip, a visit to a stately home, a trip to the seaside, etc, etc, and make sure you keep an eye on our website for up-coming events!

I am delighted to be re-elected on to the committee! Caterham WI is a wonderful group to be a part of and I thoroughly enjoyed our first year. I’ve lived in Caterham all of my life and wanted to join a group that wasn’t sport or work related and the WI is just perfect. The range of activities that we do and the variety of ladies I have met has been wonderful! There really is something for everyone in our WI!

My role again this year is to keep our Caterham WI Facebook page up to date with photographs and information and to organise all things cake!

Being part of the Caterham WI during its founding year was incredibly exciting so I jumped at the chance of being involved again this year! I moved to Caterham a few years ago and for me joining the local WI was a really good way to meet people and learn a bit more about the community I live in. I’ve met some lovely ladies along the way and can’t wait to see what 2016 brings!

My day job in a Media Officer for Blue Cross pet charity so last year when I decided to join the committee, I naturally volunteered to take on the role of Press and Communications Officer, which sees me send out a monthly members newsletter, respond to members’ emails as well as get our WI in the press.

ACTIVITES & GROUPS

I am really thrilled to be organising your groups and activities again this year.

Please feel free to approach me at any of our meetings or e-mail me about any ideas or questions you may have.

I hope to meet many of you, new and original members throughout the coming year. I am really looking forward to having a great time and a giggle with you.

Katie

I was there on the jam packed night in Soper Hall as I interested in joining the WI, I was lucky enough to get a space and here we are a year later. After an enjoyable first year I wanted to help the hardworking committee.

My husband and I have two small children and we live and run our own family business in Caterham.

I enjoy organising and promoting things that I'm passionate about, so I'm offering to help the committee in whichever way I can.
